Operation Whirlwind
Operation Whirlwind is a Second World War strategy game created by Roger Damon and released by Brøderbund in 1983, with Ariolasoft publishing the European editions. The player commands an armoured battalion whose primary objective lies fifteen kilometres away across two rivers: take the city and hold it.
Terrain, obstacles and a capable enemy stand between the battalion and its objective. Victory requires seizing the city on schedule and then surviving the counterattack; failure leaves the front vulnerable to collapse. The game provides four difficulty levels, a realistic battlefield map, sound effects and on-screen status reports, while the disk edition can save a battle in progress.
